There is nothing quite like a ski season in Meribel and we love nothing more than hearing highights from the season from our seasonnaires. So, each year we ask staff to share some of their best Meribel moments from their season. Read on to hear what two time Ski Basics Seasonnaire, Miri, had to say…
Miri Budd – Chalet Host in Chalet Victoire (2021/22) Chalet Arbalete (2022/23)
My first season in Meribel with Ski Basics was so amazing, that I just had to come back for one more! It was the best decision I ever made because I was back in my favourite place in the world.
Off piste with Parallel Lines
Picking a favourite memory is almost impossible. However, one of my favourite days of this season was definitely when a few of us took part in a guided off piste lesson. It was led by Parallel lines, the ski school Ski Basics works closely with. Our instructor, Craig, gave us all avalanche kits, took us up Saulire Express and then on to some off piste that led us back down to Mottaret. He gave us a few tips but mostly just guided us through fresh powder on an incredible route which we never would’ve found ourselves!
This lesson gave us the additional skills and confidence needed to explore more of the incredible off piste skiing all around The Three Valleys. We then spent the season enjoying more off-piste adventures covering Meribel, Courchevel, Saint Martin, and Val Thorens. One of the best things about being on a season is being able to get straight out and enjoy the fresh powder as soon as it snows and we were very spoilt in terms of snowfall over the season!
Flying high over the Three Valleys
Another unforgettable memory was flying over Three Valleys on the Three Valleys plane to end the season. The weather couldn’t have been better for it and the views were absolutely amazing.
Meribel will always hold a special place in my heart! The two seasons I have spent there have undoubtedly been some of the best months of my life and I look forward to returning for many years to come.
